Why We Believe in Healing Hens 🐓💚

At Tigre de Tartán, we love a good bird motif as much as the next person—but Healing Hens of Texas takes that idea and turns it into something truly magical.

Founded by a woman with a heart the size of a Texas sky, Healing Hens brings chickens (yes—real, feathered, clucking chickens) and custom-built coops to retirement homes across the state. It sounds adorable—and it is—but it’s also deeply therapeutic. Residents who might otherwise feel isolated or disengaged light up when the hens arrive. They feed them, talk to them, name them, and in the process, reconnect with joy, purpose, and even memory.

We’re proud to support this one-of-a-kind nonprofit, because while our own products are all about beauty and play, Healing Hens is about healing through care. And frankly, we think the two go hand in hand.

Part of our proceeds help fund new coops, feed, and fluff. Every mat you buy, every tote you sling, helps a sweet chicken find her forever yard—and helps an elder find a reason to smile.
